Value in the Students

Value in the Classroom

A month ago, our teacher, Mr. Provenzano came up with the wackiest idea in the history of South: create a filmed production of Romeo and Juliet in a month. Now a month later and almost done with the hard work we have put in, a parent complains that it has no value working with other students and that we are not learning about Romeo and Juliet “the Grosse Pointe” way. There are many reasons why we are doing this instead of reading and taking a test or an essay. The students get to learn how to work with others because the world runs through teamwork. Also, this helps widen the different uses of technology on the computer like glogster or even facebook instead of Microsoft. This even gets the kids more involved in than a simple essay. Lastly, it gets them to realize that school isn’t just test and essays, but lifelong lasting friendships come along with the opportunity. Out of all the ways to learn about Romeo and Juliet, a film is more interactive than just writing essays or doing tests.

Teamwork is a key ingredient in the working world. If we used teamwork on tests or essays, we’d be known better as cheaters. For this play, not just the actors are the team, but the producers or the ad people, or even the cameraman. Without the director, there’s no movie to present. Without the ad people, people don’t know of the movie coming out. In life and in business, teamwork is what helps you win a state championship or be able to present a new way to save our planet.

Without teamwork, there are no ideas and we’d be back in the stone ages. However, technology can be important to work with in the future.

Technology is a key factor today and in the future. We learned how to use glogster, a brand new way to present things other than powerpoint. Facebook was also used to show our ads by creating a page. Also, we used twitter to tweet about our progress. Also, the classes used skype to communicate with the kids in Van Meter, Iowa (the other school that is helping out with the project).  Technology is going to be a key recipe to success in the future. Without technology, we wouldn’t be able to present our play. However, friendship was what created technology.

Friendships are used for a number of things. High school isn’t just tests or essays, but actually the people you meet could have an impact on a life. Friendships can develop between people that don’t seem like perfect matches for others. Directors and writers made friendships while helping finish the final part of this play. Friendships can be long distance, not the person next to you. Also, friendships can impact the way people act or are seen by the public. In the play, friendship helped make the production of the play look easy. Soon, people will thank us for this play. However, one impact was how it came together.

Involvement is the main ingredient for a business. Without this, there would have been no play. The actors won’t have taken it serious, the writers would have written complete crap, and the directors would have been super lazy. Involvement is used for a project that can decide the future of a business. Involvement is what leads a team to a championship because there are a number of players on the team, not just one superstar. Also, involvement is what can save a community because without this, there wouldn’t even be one. It is too important to let go. Involvement is what creates the other three titles.

The parent should not have said this. School isn’t just tests or essays, but about the people you meet. Friendship can have a impact on your life. Involvement can save a business. Technology will be a key ingredient for success in the future. And that’s why we did the play.

Goodbye

Well, its been a good production for a month. I supplied out ads to come see our Romeo and Juliet production. And as this project is about to turn the page, ill remember this as one of my most favorite things in high school. The filming went well. Everyone showed participation and intrest in the assignments of the jobs which helped out a lot. I learned how to use a glogster, which might come in handy in the future. I cant wait for the premire in 2 weeks. I hope this play turns out to be worth all the hard work by the students of Van Meter and Grosse Pointe South high schools.

Week 3

Its been three weeks since we began our project. The first glog i created was based on a few things. For example, red is the color of love. Second, some of the things i put the notes in were to represent shock. As we are less than 3 weeks due from the headline, i have had fun. I hope to get some extra credit by showing up and helping out. Sooner or later, i will think this was very easy despite the stress of destroying my grade. Happy April Fools to everyone!

as we prepare for the one month due date of april 15, everyone gets a rumble in their stomachs. I am hoping that my posters will help me earn a solid grade. Right now, we have been in the computer lab for 2 straight days. It seems hard to make a poster but it is really easy. I see a tough shadow that will occupy the student's minds over next Bring it on!
